Hello All of the Visiters.
My name is Yoshitaka Satoh, the principal
of Tsurumi High School in Yokohama,
Japan.
Tsurumi High School has stepped up its environmental
education program. This program focuses on the environmental problems in our
area, and the environmental problems between Japan and the countries which
surround it. The program is being worked on by all the teachers of this school.
With students, we observe the environmental
problems in an area, including sea pollution of the metropolitan area including
Tokyo and air pollution. We also work to protect nature.
One example of the work we have done is an
investigation of the living things which inhabit the tidal flat in Tokyo Bay.
In addition, we study continually about the wild animal of many foreign countries,
and study about the protection activities of the wild animal in Japan or the
world has been advanced.
For example, from Thailand, various wild
animals called FRANCOIS’S
LEAF-MONKEY Presbytis francoisi francoici,
DUSKY-LUTONG Presbytis obscurus, PILAETED GIBBON Hylobates
pileatus, RED-SHANKED DOUC LANGUR Pygathrix nemaeus
have been sent to Yokohama-city zoo.
By learning about those animals, we can
investigate the relation between people of various countries, and wild animals.
Today, we participate in ASSN through the
internet and I am looking forward to being able to exchange opinions with the
teachers and students of various countries especially teachers and students in Thailand.
